“Free diving is firstly a deep dive into yourself”

Free diving is definitely one of the best things I have ever done – absolutely magical, really challenging and of course rewarding. While in Indonesia, I did a three-day-course (AIDA**). After some theoretical lectures and breathing exercises I was able to spend over 3 minutes under water (static apnea) the very first day. And the last day I went as deep as 16 meters under water (constant weight discipline). It’s an amazing experience, deferent way to explore underwater world and your body abilities.
My instructor Aurélie (Lili) Cottier was incredible – not only as a teacher, but also as a person. She helped to push the limits, to fight with ourselves and the urge to breath. She inspired sharing her attitude to life and work. “Free diving is first of all a deep dive into yourself”, – Lili said. “It’s the most challenging sport I know. Because it’s not only about technics and practicing, but it’s about you, your inner peace, your ability to overcome yourself”, – she added and it’s hard not to agree as she tried it all – paragliding, hiking, scuba diving and much more.
Lili is also a photographer. Visit her website http://3elementsphoto.com/ for pictures of the life under water, in the wind and on earth.
