A glacier next to Everest Base Camp (5364m). Hundreds of people come to the EBC every year, from where they start climbing the south side of Chomolungma.

The Himalayan range encompasses about 15,000 glaciers, which store about 12,000 km3 of fresh water. Unfotunatelly, glaciers of Himalaya are melting at alarming speed and it is seriously threatening the survival of major rivers, including the Yangtze, the Mekong, the Yellow River, the Indus and the Ganges, which originate from these glaciers.
