My photograph won National Award at Sony World Photography ContestNational Awards programme is looking to find the best single shot taken by a photographer from that country. The 2015 edition of Sony World Photography Contest attracted over 173,000 entries from 171 countries.

More than 150 entries from 40 countries were evaluated by a jury chaired by: Mr. Mark Tran, a notable international correspondent for The Guardian, UK. The jury included Mrs. Faz da Hall, Executive Producer Channel Africa, SABC, South Africa, Mr. Jon Sawyer, Executive Director, Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, USA. Mr. Olivier Nyirubugara, Senior Trainer Voices of Africa Media Foundation, Rwanda/Netherlands and Ms. Vinaya Deshpande, The Hindu, India. The jury praised this year’s entries for their journalistic excellence, investigative ability, and originality.

The  winning journalists are: Alain Tossounon (Benin), Ngala Killian Chimtom (Cameroon), Berta Tilmantaite (Lithuania), Francis Odupute (Nigeria), Francesca de Châtel (Belgium), Ketan Trivedi (India).

The World Water Week in Stockholm is the annual meeting place for the planet’s most urgent water-related issues. Organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), it brings together 2500 experts, practitioners, decision makers and business innovators from around the globe to exchange ideas, foster new thinking and develop solutions.

Six journalists were named as winners of the “WASH Media Awards” competition for their excellence in reporting on water, sanitation and hygiene-related (WASH) issues.

The journalists and their winning entries are:

The WASH Media Awards initiative recognizes and supports the crucial role of the media in raising awareness of the importance of water, sanitation, and hygiene services.

WASH Media Award: The River Runs Back to win in TV category

The River Runs Back was announced as a winner of the TV category in WASH Media Award.

The WASH Media Awards recognise and support the crucial role of media in raising awareness of the importance of water, sanitation, and hygiene services. It aims to promote coverage of WASH issues in the local, national and international media to have a positive influence on decision-makers, the private sector, the civil society as well as individuals and households.

The WASH Media Award Ceremony will take place at the Closing of the World Water Week in Stockholm, on August 31. Awards will be presented in six categories.

Launched in 2002 by Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC), the WASH Media Award is presented in collaboration with the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI).
